Andrew Edmunds Winter Supper
Saturday 25th January 2020
We are delighted to welcome Karl Goward as guest chef on Saturday 25th January,
kicking off the new year with an evening of delicious flavours he put together.
Karl has spent all his adult life in kitchens, from a humble pub in the Norfolk Broads to some of the world’s most
acclaimed restaurants. It has been a long, varied and interesting culinary journey.
A move to London in the early 90s saw invaluable time spent in some of the capital’s top hotels and restaurants before finding his spiritual home at the recently opened St. John in Farringdon.
In that pioneering atmosphere, it was here that food and drink suddenly made real sense.
After a couple of years, Karl was asked to open and run the kitchen at St John’s sister restaurant,
Bread & Wine in Spitalfields. For two years St.John Bread & Wine garnered acclaim and awards and proved a worthy companion to the, by now, legendary St. John.
By 2005, the lure of the Big Apple tempted a move to NYC and more time was spent in some of the city’s best dining establishments, including The Spotted Pig and Prune.
Since returning home Karl has set up and run the kitchens at both the Drapers Arms and Bistro Union with both proudly winning a coveted Bib Gourmand within the first year of opening their doors.
More recently, the last four and a half years were spent returning Shepherds of Westminster to its former place as one of London’s top places to eat seasonal British fare.
