Frequently Asked Questions

Is Andrew Edmunds a good restaurant for a romantic dinner? Yes — Andrew Edmunds is consistently voted one of the most romantic restaurants in London. The room is candlelit, intimate, and unhurried, set in an 18th-century Georgian townhouse on a quiet Soho street. Tables are small and close together, the lighting is warm and low, and the atmosphere is genuinely conducive to conversation. It is the kind of place that has quietly supported a great many London love affairs since 1986.

What is Andrew Edmunds best known for? Andrew Edmunds is best known for three things: its legendary wine list, its romantic candlelit atmosphere, and being one of the last true bastions of old Soho. The wine list in particular has long been celebrated for the breadth and quality of its selection — including older and rare vintages — at prices that are remarkably fair for central London. The handwritten daily menu, the candles in old wine bottles, and the wood-panelled rooms have remained essentially unchanged for forty years.

What kind of food does Andrew Edmunds serve? We serve seasonal Modern European food — sometimes described as Franco-Mediterranean bistro cooking — with a daily changing menu that reflects whatever is best at market. Dishes are unfussy, confident, and ingredient-led: think free range meat, sustainable fish dishes, game in season, simple salads, and classic desserts. Vegetarian and vegan options are always available. Nothing is overcomplicated, and the cooking has been called "the kind of food you actually want to eat."
